JACOBY TREELINE IDENTIFICATIONS

MBH do not provide NGDC/ITRDB identifications of the Jacoby treeline sites, but provide locations and starts for these series in the MBH Supplementary Information, which states that these series are derived from Jacoby and d’Arrigo 1989. The MBH information was matched first to information in the source Jacoby publication and then, using the Jacoby information, matched at NGDC. Correlations between NGDC and MBH data were carried out based on these matches. In some cases, there was 100% identification; in other cases, there had been significant updates in the NGDC series. These identifications are all considered secure and the Jacoby nomenclature is applied in discussions of these series.

NGDC (pers. comm., Sept. 2003] stated that the NGDC data “should all have been the same in 1998 (except for cana153 [Coppermine River] and 157 [TTHH], which were not contributed until 1999). The current posted files match the original contributions from 1991 or 1992 for ak031-ak033 and cana002.”
